The eagerly awaited next instalment in New York Times bestseller Sarah Mayberry's Brothers Ink Series!
Blue Sullivan knows a player when she sees one. And Eddie Oliveira—charm and sex personified—was born to play. She never wanted him to say goodbye, so for the last ten years she’s ignored the sizzling attraction between them and focused on being the best sidekick a guy could have. Smart girl, right?

Then Blue has a serious accident, and overnight Eddie changes. Suddenly he’s more intense and singularly devoted…to her. With all this sexy attention, it’s hard to stay within the boundaries she’s scrupulously drawn. The temptation, the anticipation builds and, finally, she has to have what he’s offering. Of course Eddie proves to be brilliant. Now, she worries he’s ruined her forever, as well as the friendship that is so important to her....

Praise for Sarah Mayberry's books "Reading this one was like finding a twenty-dollar bill in your coat pocket, then unfolding it and finding a fifty wrapped inside. It started out great and just kept getting better." USA Today, All They Need.
"This book is amazing confident and clever, funny and touching, and wonderfully done." Sarah Wendell, Smart Bitches Trashy Books, Her Best Worst Mistake
"Satisfaction is easily the sexiest Mayberry book yet." Dear Author, Satisfaction

I wish I liked this one more, but for me I spent half the time not liking Eddie for being a recovering manwhore and the other half being drowned in angst. Anticipation just didn't have the same feel as the first book in the series, Satisfaction. The characters were very different. Eddie has gotten around. He hasn't had a girlfriend that lasted past the 6 month mark and most of his "relationships" are of the one night variety. Blue is a very self-reliant and private person. She has been in love with Eddie for the 10 years she has known him. She was quite happy to settle for friendship though, as she doesn't want to have him for a good time but a short time which could ruin their friendship.

An accident which puts Blue into hospital forces the two of them to look at their relationship differently. This story shows us the struggle the two of them face in coming to terms with their feelings and whether they are willing to put their friendship at risk.

My problem was that I liked Blue at the beginning but started to dislike her...and disliked Eddie at the beginning but learnt to like him. There wasn't a time through the whole story that I liked both the characters at the same time. I'm not sure how Blue could be in love with Eddie and watch him be with so many women. I'm also not sure if Eddie loved Blue, even just as friends, could disregard her because the latest hook-up feels intimidated by their friendship.

Overall, I didn't mind Anticipation but definitely enjoyed the characters and storyline of Satisfaction more.

Beautifully heartfelt friends-to-lovers story. Characters are clever, lovable, irresistible. You can't help but be drawn into their story. Blue, product of the foster care system, damaged by the loss of her parents at an early age, who understandably has trust issues; Eddie has been living the single guy lifestyle and loving it thus far. Each strongly attracted to the other, but neither wants to jeopardize ten years of friendship.

Contemporary romance readers of all sorts will like this series, I already liked Sarah Mayberry's work, but Anticipation is a stand out. The compelling emotional journey the main characters were on drew me in, and Ms Mayberry's beautiful writing made me care, and kept me reading.

A favorite for 2015 so far!
Ms. Mayberry hits it out of the park on this one. This plot line is not necessarily new, but as always, Ms. Mayberry gives it so much life and understanding and kindness. In the foreword and on her blog, she had admitted to spending an inordinate amount of time writing and rewriting and you can tell. The characters are rich and their backgrounds are full and properly dealt with. I recently read another author's "reformed bad boy" book and was nearly gagging several times during the story and at the end, totally wondered why that was a "romance". I have also read other books where the characters are dealing with abandonment issues and again, Sarah's version is just so much better. I loved this book and can't wait for more from Sarah.
Sarah Mayberry has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I love how she writes about people you can relate to - people with real problems who deal with these problems in that messy way we humans tend to deal with our problems.
This book was as good as the best of her books (I haven't been a fan of the Sarah Mayberry books taking place in the USA) and I really loved the main characters, Blue in particular. Yes, Blue didn't exactly make things easy but there was plenty of good reason for that. And I like it when authors don't solve deep problems with a snap of her fingers.
Now I'm looking forward to the third book in this series.
Note to new readers this book can be read as a stand-alone!
This book is one of many reasons that Sarah Mayberry is at the top of my "auto buy authors" list and has been for quite some time now! She writes very vivid, colorful, real characters with flaws, insecurities, and challenges. Tears came to my eyes when Eddie said to Blue "No matter what, I am still your friend" at a very bad time for her, when they had been fiercely at odds just hours before. This book was worth waiting for, and I appreciate the attention to detail, and that no character's actions come across as simply a plot device. In addition, none of the sex scenes seem to be thrown in, but blend naturally with the story as it unfolds. Sarah Mayberry has done it again, and I'm definitely looking forward to the third book no matter how long we have to wait!
A motorcycle accident brings the ten year, close, friendship between Eddie and Blue into a new focus. Blue is now struggling to keep her, more than friends, feelings contained as she always has done. Eddie, now, realizes just how important Blue is to him.

When dance floor stirrings between the two "friends" leads to the inevitable erotic encounter, Blue flees afterward fearing that she will lose the real friendship that she desperately needs.

I like a friends to lovers and more story. And, I love the independent, outspoken, unique Blue and Eddie the irreverent, woman hopping, lover par excellence, who is willing to become a patient, caring man to show Blue that she is THE woman for him.

My problem is that Blue's internal dialogue and angst took up too much of the book. It was repetitive and even a bit annoying after a while. I understood her dilemma without being hit over the head with it. That said, there were moments that were very poignant and others that were heart wrenching. If you like a book that makes you feel, give this one a try. It also deserves credit for being a stand alone even though it's book 2 in a series. Book one does enhance the enjoyment, but is not required.
